Categories: Art and Culture, West Sumatra

Tabuik is a local commemoration of Asyura, the day of Imam Husein (the grandchildren of Muhammad SAW) death. This tradition is held in Pariaman, Minangkabau, West Sumatra. In this event, the Karbala war where Imam Husein was killed is concocted. Etymologically, Tabuik is a term for bier carried on the event then anchored to the sea.
