In the colonial era, rice was a luxury food. Some people can only enjoy the food with the cheaper basic ingredients of cassava. One of those cassava base food is Tiwul. Tiwul is cooked by pounding the cassava, mix it with brown sugar, steam them and then mix it again with steamed grated coconut. Nowadays, it has become a snack food found in traditional markets. Tiwul is often sold by its sweet complements or eaten with vegetables and side dishes or even eaten simply as it is.
