Berkas:SilasPapare.jpg Silas Papare is a national hero who help unifying Papua, was called Irian in the past, with Indonesia. He was born in Serui, Papua on 18 December 1918 and passed away on 7 March 1973. He struggled against Netherlands colonialism and was arrested for causing uprising. In prison he came to know Dr. Sam Ratulangi, an exiled Sulawesi governor, who has strenghten his resolve in unifying Papua and Indonesia. Silas Papare later established a  Party at Yogyakarta in Oktober 1949 for helping the Indonesian government to put West Papua into Indonesia.
