Bukit Lawang

Bukit Lawang (door to the hill) is a small village located in south Gunung Leuser National Park (GLNP), North Sumatra. The village is an entrance gate to the legendary Sumatra forests where Leuser Mount (3.404 meter) is. In Bukit Lawang was Sumatran orangutan rehabilitation center established since 1973. Orangutan is the main attraction of Bukit Lawang, for the rare handsome primate swinging from tree to tree of the dense tropical forest as its natural habitat.
