Semanggi is a traditional cuisine of Surabaya. It consists of two kinds of vegetable, semanggi leaves and steamed sprout, served with mixed petis (fresh shrimp that is pounded, boiled in rice straw water and  seasoned) and special seasoning which is mixed sweet potatoes, peanuts and brown sugar, completed with kerupuk puli. The seller is easily recognized because they wear a jarit (long batik scarf) and a shawl used to carry semanggi on their shoulder.
