One of the unique species from West Papua is a lobster whose claws like a crab’s so it raises a myth that the lobster has had affair with crab. The lobster is very popular in Wamena, West Papua. The lobster can be served as delicious dishes by frying, grilled, and boiled.

Other traditional cuisine of Raja Ampat, West Papua, is Sagoo Worm Satay. It may sound and look loathsome, but the worms are rich in protein. People can get the worm from an old sagoo tree. The local people can eat straight the worm, but nowadays the worm is served in the form of satay.
Papeda is a traditional cuisine from West Papua. The cuisine is made of sagoo which is processed into white, sticky pulp like glue. It is tasteless but served with delicious yellow gravy of mumbara or other fish dishes.
Suanggi Dance is a traditional dance from West Papua. The dance tells about a story of a husband who is left behind by his wife who died because of angi-angi (supernatural creature).
Though you probably wont see a cendrawasih / paradise bird in the bay but you will be able to dive into the ocean to see more than 200 species of fish and beautiful corals all over you.
